Guidelines Issued for Self-Isolation Home Care

“Wheeling Hospital is sharing guidelines for self-isolation home care during the COVID-19 outbreak. For those who elect or are advised to stay home and self-isolate, whether or not they may have COVID-19, the hospital is relaying the guidelines devised by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources.

* Stay home except to get medical care.

Restrict activities outside the home, except for getting medical care. Do not go to work, school or public areas. Avoid using public transportation. Use over-the-counter medications to treat aches and fevers, cough and cold. Hydrate.

* Separate yourself from other people and animals in your home.

It is especially important to stay away from persons who are elderly or have underlying chronic diseases, as they are at higher risk of severe disease. Restrict contact with pets and other animals while you are sick with COVID-19, just like you would around other people….”
